Dr. Anna Hayes (Ph.D.) - That's me!

My Story

I am a physical therapist and equine bodyworker, and whilst I have become an expert in the field of pain and stress relief for people, I now concentrate on the treatment of horses, which after many years of study, research and treatments remains my passion. I work with the gentle bodywork method, orthobionomy, that helps ease dis-ease, releasing stress, pain and tension within the body. I am the only fully qualified Ortho-Bionomy practitioner in the UK and have run a successful practice since 2012, first in Germany and since 2017 in Ellesmere, North Shropshire. I pride myself in providing individual solutions for my clients in a loving, caring and professional manner.

I started to work with horses and orthobionomy in 2015, following a course with the Advanced Ortho-Bionomy Instructor, Terri Lee in the U.S.. This was followed by a series of courses in Structural Equine Osteopathy. However, I quickly found that the horses who had already experienced orthobionomy would not let me work with the structural techniques! They were already used to the much more subtle and gentle approach of orthobionomy.

I discovered Ortho-Bionomy after suffering a serious head injury  which left me unable to walk comfortably and confined to a darkened room for three months. A German Ortho-Bionomy practitioner put me back on my feet and leading a normal life in just a few weeks and I needed to know how she had done that!

In addition to qualifying as an Ortho-Bionomy Practitioner in 2014, I have completed further training in treating shock and trauma, scars, amputations, implants and protheses, traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture points, energy work and energetic psychology. Before all this I studied Applied Physics at the University of Bath, graduating in the year of 1987, before completing my Ph.D. in the area of Biomaterials and Biomechanics. This was followed by three more years in research. In 1995 I moved to Germany and worked in the area of Medical Technology for 5 years, before I dedicated myself to the job of mother. From 2007 until 2011 I also studied to be an Alternative Practitioner (Heilpraktikerin). In 2017 I moved back to England to work with orthobionomy together with people and with horses.
